Cinnamon Roll Fair – Kihei, Maui

Cinnamon Roll Fair

2463 South Kihei road
Kihei, HI 96753

Cost: $4.00 + for a Cinnamon Roll with toppings (NOTHING is cheap in Hawaii)

Parking: Free in lot

Location: In the Denny’s strip mall; it’s a cash and carry type place with no inside seating. A few tables and chairs are located outside…and of course the beach is right across the street.

A year has gone by since we took our winter vacation to Maui. Even after a whole year, we still crave this thick, sticky, chewy goodness . Never in my life had I bought a danish as large as this one. Johnson’s Corner on Interstate 25 in Colorado is a very close competitor, but the two have totally different styles and are really not all that comparable.

Fun is the art of cinnamon roll making. When walking by this restaurant, the sights and smells lure you in. Behind the screened window, you can see the large vats of dough rising, waiting to be punched down, rolled out and married with cinnamon, sugar and butter. Scents of baking yeast stop you like a road block and wait for you to come in and pay your toll. They offer a variety of toppings, each with it’s own cost of course. If cinnamon rolls aren’t your thing, they also have a variety of breakfast sandwiches on home made croissants – which I’m sure are just as tasty.

The same couple we traveled with, returned to Maui with their children this past week. Guess what showed up on my doorstep last night? Like luggage stowaways,  the rolls arrived safely complete with icing and fresh macadamia nuts.

From Maui with love…life is good.
