I need to tell you about an amazing holiday blogger’s event that I attended in Chicago this season. Hosted by Cadillac and Social Rev Up (and co-hosted by Momma Cuisine, Wisconsin Mom Squad and me *squeee*), this event introduced Midwestern bloggers to the real feel of working with automobile companies.
Held at Reza’s Restaurant in Chicago, the venue was bustling with old and new blogging faces, coming together to listen to Connie Burke (GM Representative) talk about what auto companies are looking for when working with those in social media. It was refreshing to hear that companies, like GM, are looking for real relationships with people who will give honest feedback and opinions about their products. Nothing fake found here. I’ve known Connie for a few years now. If you ever get the chance to meet and/or work with her, you’ll find nothing but goodness. In the realm of social media, she is, by far, the most active and involved representative of a company that I have ever worked with.
As if the company wasn’t grand enough, Social Rev Up did a fabulous job with prizes. Theater tickets, gift baskets, hotel stays, flower arrangements and gift cards, including a $100 certificate to Tiffany’s! Attendants (physical and virtual) participated in a series of online (and offline) activities in order to earn entries into the drawings. I’m happy to report, #CadillacRock was a trending topic that evening.
Of course, I can’t go without talking about the food. Reza’s is a Mediterranean style restaurant located in a huge old building (which I can only imagine was full of secret, back room speak easys) on W. Ontario Avenue. Hummus, pita bread, long grain rice, filet mignon, salmon, lamb…need I say more? And yes…I carried out a doggie bag.
And look at that cake! Made by Vinny Garcia, from Bleeding Heart bakery, this three layer cake screamed Cadillac. The one thing I appreciate most about Bleeding Heart baked goods is that they are an environmentally friendly bakery that uses organic, natural ingredients. When you slice into a cake such as this, you can tell by the appearance and flavor that it’s made with the “good stuff”…and I appreciate that.
Here’s to hoping you all had a Cadillac Rockin’ holiday season!

Thx Toni! It WAS a rockin event – and it was those who showed up (online and IRL) that made it that way.
Thx also for your very kind words. It’s always great to see you & I’ve always admired the Road-Tripper in you, who is willing to make the haul from Indy for a Chicago event!
I’m almost embarrassed to say that I was so busy & distracted that I didn’t get to sample any of the food that night. That can mean only one thing: DO OVER!
Hope you had a wonderful holiday. Thx again for your great post.
I agree…we all need a DO-OVER! Thanks Connie – Happy 2012 to ya!
